आरबीआई रिटेल डायरेक्ट
RBI Retail Direct is an online facility that enables individual investors to invest directly in Government securities through the Reserve Bank of India’s Retail Direct Gilt (RDG) account.
It provides access to both primary auctions and secondary-market transactions.
Key Features
- Who can invest: Individual retail investors who meet RBI’s eligibility requirements.
- Account: Retail Direct Gilt (RDG) account with RBI.
- Available investments: Treasury Bills (T-Bills), Government of India dated securities, State Development Loans (SDLs), Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) when available.
- Investment access: Participate in primary-market auctions and buy or sell eligible securities in the secondary market.
- Charges: Opening and maintaining the RDG account, as well as submitting bids in primary auctions, is free of charge with RBI.
- Minimum investment: Generally ₹10,000 for T-Bills, dated Government securities and SDLs; SGB investment is based on the applicable gold quantity and issue terms.
How to Open an Account
- Visit the official portal: https://rbiretaildirect.org.in
- Select Register and provide the required personal, PAN, bank-account and KYC details.
- Complete the verification process.
- Open and fund the linked bank account as required.
- Select securities available for primary auction or secondary-market purchase.
- Review the order and submit it through the portal.
Important Points for Customers
- Government securities are subject to interest-rate and market-price risk if sold before maturity.
- Check the maturity date, coupon, yield, liquidity and taxation before investing.
- Use only the official RBI Retail Direct website and never share OTPs, passwords or login credentials.
- Read the applicable issue terms before investing in T-Bills, dated securities, SDLs or SGBs.
